Acier Lachine(www.acierlachine.com) is delighted to announce a sponsorship with TeamMTL(www.teammtl.ca), the only Canadian team at 2018 Solar Decathlon competition to take place in Dezhou, China. The Solar Decathlon China is a green building contest that challenges academic teams to design, build and operate an architecturally sophisticated and energy efficient solar-powered house. TeamMTL will compete against other 20 participating teams from 11 countries representing 49 universities.

Acier Lachine’s contribution will consist of fabricating a customized steel structure that will be used in the TeamMTL’s house concept. This structure will add comfort and space usage efficiency, so that the ventilation equipment and exhaust pipes will be concealed.

TeamMTL is a collaboration effort between the School of Architecture and several other departments at McGill University and Concordia University in Montreal. Acier Lachine as the member of the Greater Montreal steel distributors and fabricators community will support TeamMTL’s project to be a success. Ultimately, the joint effort of many supporters of this project will result in building technologically advanced architecture that is affordable, sustainable and ecological among other aspects.
